s. jaen black is the author of Bastante, a fictionalized story about the 'sex, drugs, rock & roll' of physical culture. Jaen is a current master’s world record holder in the sport of Olympic weightlifting, and is a member of the legendary Coffee’s Gym’s women’s weightlifting team since 1983.

Jaen first published at six years of age when she and her daddy co-authored a jingle for a local milk company in south Alabama. It was a contest and the prize was a Shetland Pony. She lived to tell the tale and learned to always be wary of free horses.

As a trap set drummer, she was a member of Atlanta’s theatrical performance band, Moral Hazard, and an actor in the historical Red Dyke Theater. She currently performs with world-class musician Bruce Harvie in the duo Dick & Jaen, and along with Harvie and rockin’ soul man bass player Jimmy Mudd, plays drums in the band, The Buzzbombs.

She lives on a remote island in the Pacific Northwest with her horse, two cats, and the Colonel.
